Pump Station Issues
The Town of Funkstown’s Sewage Treatment facility has been dealing with an increase in non-flushable materials clogging our equipment.
WE ASK RESIDENTS TO ONLY FLUSH TOILET PAPER AND HUMAN WASTE.
Flushable wipes, including cleansing and baby wipes, cannot be safely flushed, even if they are labeled as “flushable” or “biodegradable.”
Other non-flushable items include things like diapers, dental floss, hair, feminine hygiene products, cotton swabs, and kitty litter.
Flushing or dumping the wrong things down the drain can cause blockages in your own home.

Snow Removal
At the Mayor and Council meeting held on Monday, February 9, 2026, it was decided that, since the cold spell is now breaking and the weather is warming up, for the safety of everyone, we are respectfully asking all residents to please clean their sidewalks if you have not already done so. The Mayor and Council did not enforce the Sidewalk Ordinance for snow removal during this snowstorm, but all snowstorms moving forward will be enforced.
A copy of the Ordinance is attached for reference.
