Project: SANITARY SEWER COLLECTION SYSTEM REHABILITATION: The
project generally consists of cleaning, televising, and lining of approximately 2,900 L.F. of existing 8” sewer main, reinstatement of 24 laterals, rehabilitation of 13 manholes, and restoration of areas disturbed by construction.

Thanksgiving holiday
The Thanksgiving holiday schedule will be as follows: NO waste collection on Thursday, November 24th, but waste collection will be on Friday, November 25th.
Town Office will be closed Thursday the 24th and Friday the 25th.
The last yard collection will be on Tuesday, November 29th, and will resume again on the first Tuesday in April, 2023.
2022 Olde Tyme Christmas Ball
The new balls for this year has been ordered and hope to have them by the Funkstown Olde Tyme Christmas Event on December 9th. This year will be the Nightingale Inn which was a gas station and a over night rest stop in Funkstown for many years. The wagons are warming up and the ponies have been brushed it will be another banner year.

Design/Build Upgrades for Five (5) Wastewater Pumping Stations
FUNKSTOWN, MD IS ACCEPTING BID PROPOSALS FOR THE FOLLOWING PROJECT:
Design and build upgrades to communications, PLC controllers, and programmers, and optional design/ build of a mobile generator to be utilized in emergency situations for five (5) wastewater pumping stations in Funkstown, MD.
Scope of Work:
➢ Perform a complete update of all control systems and programmers.
➢ Install wireless alarm systems with email, call, and text alert capabilities.
➢ Install manual and proximity float switch systems which allow the operator to switch between manual and proximity.
➢ Include Rockwell or Siemens touch screen interfaces.
➢ Ensure system surge protection from overvoltage, undervoltage and lightning.
➢ Fashion a mobile generator with twist lock connections for use in emergency situations. (optional)
➢ Install new heaters, lights, fans, and video cameras inside each pump station.
➢ Install 3-phase 230-volt pumps in four of the pump stations.
Notes:
➢ Timing of the project must minimize disruption to the collection systems and the community.
➢ Work should be done during times of off-peak water usage.
➢ Replacement components are required on site prior to removal of existing components to ensure minimal system interruptions.
➢ A response to the RFP is purely voluntary on part of the responder. The Town shall not be responsible for costs incurred in responding to the RFP or for any meetings which may result from the submission.
A MANDATORY PRE-BID MEETING will be held at 10:00am on September 15, 2022 at The Mayor’s office located at 30 E Baltimore St, Funkstown, MD 21734. The meeting will include a tour of the pump stations.
BACKGROUND:
Funkstown is a municipality of 961 residents located in Washington County, Maryland. Sanitary sewer is collected and conveyed to the treatment plant through 5 pump stations. The pump stations are in need of updated equipment in order to remain functional and withstand any potential growth. The owner is in need of knowledgeable professionals who can perform quality updates to the system through efficient and economical means.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
Deliver two (2) hard copies of your bid document containing:
1) A transmittal letter which briefly states the company’s understanding of the services to be performed and a statement as to why the company feels it is the best qualified to perform the work.
2) Qualifications and Experience Information:
a) Brief history of the company and a description of its capabilities.
b) List of personnel who will perform the work and their experience, qualifications, licenses, etc.
c) List specific examples (2-3) of similar work your company has recently performed in the region that are specifically relevant to the proposed scope of the project. For each, provide the client reference’s contact information (address, phone, email, and website).
d) Provide a brief summary of your company’s approach to quality control during construction and pre-construction services.
e) List any unresolved and ongoing claims or disputes against your company, any claims your company may have against a third party, and provide a history of such litigation, including the outcomes, for the past five years.
3) Bid Details:
a) Provide a detailed table estimating cost of design, material acquisition, installation, labor, planning/ permitting, etc. totaling to the overall bid amount.
b) An estimated step by step completion schedule.
c) Identification and experience of the individual who will serve as client contact/project manager.
d) Provide information about the company’s insurance coverage.

New Public Park
As most of you know Funkstown has a whole new Public Park. This location is the former Antietam Trailer Park. All of the trailers have been removed and the area has been regraded and looks great. The Town council is looks at future improvement to the property which include things like a canoe boat ramp, pavilion, picnic tables, fire pits and a bathroom.
The council is looking for input from the residents for the park name, as the “Funkstown Park” name is already taken. We have a list of a few names to start with that include the following………. Watts Park, Woodey Park, and Willow Grove Park, all where name from the amusement park across the creek in the early 1900’s. Jerusalem Park after the town original name. Paul’s Park since he was one of the principal person to make this happen. Last is Unity Park as it is a place for people to come together and unite for fun and fellowship.
Please send your vote to rgaver23@icloud.com so that I can start to compile a list of the most liked name for the park. Please do not feel that you are limited to our list, if you feel you want to start a campaign for a different name then so be it. Please keep them CLEAN and simple enough you would tell your 6 year old daughter. The Town Council will have the final say on the name but this is a chance for citizens to speak out and be heard. We would like to finish this and pick a name at the next council meeting.
